Different redblock intercooler sizes?

The different eras of intercoolers in the redblock engines differed in the position of the air intake/exhausts, and as far as I know the size of the intercooler itself. What was the timeline that they switched them?
Is it possible to fit a later intercooler from a 940 with the center mounted air intakes/exhausts into a 240?

91/92 based on what I've seen in the yards

Not without hacking it up and looking pretty janky

We've done it. You do have to cut up the radiator support some, and fab up some supports or whatever, but you can make it look clean if you try. On the car we're doing, you'd never know we were in there.
