DSM BOV mod for quick release and higher boost

I highly recomend this if you have one of the DSM BOVs.

First thing if you are going to do this Do not use the 6mm tap like he says use a 5mm tap and drill a smaller (9/64?) piolet hole. the 3/16 brake line i used would actually slip through the piolet hole even before i cut the threads. So use a smaller hole and everything will be all good.

I also taped my pressure signal on the BOV flange so that was a short run of vac line.

Result: No more backlash! the valve open clean and fast every time. and it holds around 15# of boost (all ive tried so far)... although the car now idles at 1.5kRPM vac leak maybe... I am not sure yet.

If you have a DSM BOV that isnt working as good as you would like... Do this and see how much better it can be.

I now have mine installed, but have yet to do the mod on it... i will see if i like it as it is, or not yet.

I had one. I saw that mod but never tried it out. I just crushed mine a bit... If I use one again, I'll be giving this mod a try.

ive always just crushed the hat alittle for higher boost and have never had a problem. 1g dsmbov is prob the best bang for your buck bov there is

I used to crush them but I started doing this mod a couple years ago. Does everything better with this mod and is less ghetto than crushing.

The little tin can on top of the bov houses a spring. If you crush that hat (stick it in a vise and clamp down on it until it crushes) then you increase the preload on the spring.

Literally crushing the diaphragm of the BOV so the spring is pretensioned more, it holds more boost.
