I have a read A LOT of debate over different forums of signal for an external gate, now I LOVE the way my compressor housing looks without a fitting on it but I want the best source for the gate. I've read that the intake manifold can be a "dirty" line to plum off but that seems my best option, what say tb?

Why not plum to the hard pipe just downstream of the compressor housing?

I'd have to drill into my very pretty paint but is that a better option? See what you have said is part of the debate I've read...
There isn’t much head loss between the compressor and the hard pipe. I’d imaging that the biggest response problems are noticed when you source your vacuum signal from the side downstream of the inter cooler. You could also locate the fitting on the underside of the pipe and it wouldn’t be very visible.
