240 Fan or mist style windshield washer nozzles

I've been doing a lot more long distance driving lately, and the thing that's been bothering me most about my 240 (sig) has to be the miserable washer nozzles. I've been thinking about upgrading the nozzles to a fan or mist style, as seen on a lot of newer cars, and I can't imagine that I'm the only one to have wanted to try this very inexpensive upgrade on a 240. I know there were some changes around '91 for the 700 and 900 nozzles, affecting compatibility, but I don't know where my 92 240 stands.

Question is: has anyone found a good drop-in replacement for 240 nozzles that covers the windshield well? I was thinking a later model Volvo, like an 850 or s80 or even newer, but it really doesn't have to be a Volvo. Before I head down to the junkyard and try a bunch on for size, does anyone know of a sure thing I could just order new?

I'm running the late S70 nozzles, same ones from most of the newer Volvo stuff. Decent fan pattern, drop-in as well. Only issue is the plastic tabs that hold them in seem weak, had to replace a few after a couple years already. Wife's V50 needs them as well.

^ good idea for a single-nozzle flat-hood! The hole's a bit bigger than later 240s though. I used silicone adhesive sealant to stick a stock late-model 240 nozzle on my flat-hood. Of course the spray pattern sucks, and fan pattern would be perfect for the center single nozzle. Good to know.

I guess this is on the 745 in your sig. Volvo p/n 30655605?

I just tried installing these nozzles on a 240, and while the fit in the hood is snug, the jets are firing directly at the wiper blades where they rest, far too low. It is an enormous improvement from even the best aimed, best condition single jet original style, as it covers the entirety of the windshield with fluid, but it still shoots the majority of the fluid below the wiper's range, doing nothing to clear the windshield. I really wish these nozzles were adjustable, like the jeep or Honda ones.

I think my next attempt will be something from Honda, unless anyone has had any success modifying the aim of the 30655605's.

They aren't that low on my 745, but they definitely aren't quite where I'd like them. Still far better than what it had though.

Please do post up what you find, inquiring minds wanna know!

I do know my 91 Dodge Ramcharger has fan style nozzles as well, a touch bulkier though, not sure what the attachment point is like. They do shoot a bit higher than the S70 nozzles. Just another idea for ya.

Dorman part #47140 is THE way to go. It's the Dorman replacement for the Saturn Vue/Chevy Equinox/ Pontiac Torrent. Any Oreilly's/Autozone/Carquest etc. will be able to order them for 10$.

They're a little tight to get in, but once they're in they stay put and are flush. It's absolutely worth it because they're a mist style ball washer, so it has adjustment up and down, side to side, and you can rotate it (30 degrees of pitch, roll and yaw.). After adjustment I've gotten them to soak the whole windshield without overspray.
