Replaced the front wheel bearings (sealed wheel bearing)assemblies in my 92 740. Used correct torque specs, anti seize, etc. Made sure the heat shields are clearing the rotors...

On The passenger side the bearing when on so smoothly, torque it down while turning the hub.

On the driver side i could not get the bearing to slide onto the spindle without having to tap it in with a wooden block. The old bearing was just as hard to get off on that side as well.

Now i can hear a ticking sound related to wheel speed, and its not brake related.I'm thinking i make have damage the wheel bearing while trying to tap it in with quite some force.

Why would the wheel bearing require force and not slide on like the other one??? Both bearing are Moog brand.

I've never been stumped on any repair on my brick in 20 years Any thoughts guys on this issue?

Should've hit the sticky spindle with a little emory cloth first.
If you reach for the hammer it's a sign to step away before you **** something up.

I once worked on a car that had the cotter pin hitting the dust cap where it was dented, in it made a clicking noise.

I had a ticking noise on mine after changing bearings and other stuff in the front. It turned out to be the ABS sensor touching the ABS ring. Got rid of it by adjusting the sensor.

Yeah maybe i should've. I Haven't had any time to check to see whats going on but i remembered that the inner circular part of the backing plate was bent when i was trying to remove the bearing and install the new one.

I tried to straighten it out .I think that part might be rubbing on the outer part of the bearing.
I'll jack it up this weekend and i'll report back! I ordered a new bearing in case i damaged it while installing the new one! I'll figure it out this weekend.

I have thought about that too! I never knew that sensor can be adjusted ,I'll check that out as well.

It isn't supposed to be, as far as i know. I replaced my sensors with cheap spares, so they might be smaller than the OE ones. I also had to grind out the old one on the same side, so I might have grinded a bit too much.

I'm reporting back on the issue. The inner part of the backing plate was bent and rubbing against the back of the bearing. I took the wheel, caliper, and caliper bracket off and spun the hub and listen to where the sound was coming from.

I took a small flat head and straighten out the circular part on the backing plate!:)
