But i do notice that it will go up VERY VERY slowly when i fill up. It will never reach the fill tank mark becasue i fill up before it has a chance too.

Before this tragedy... i do remember that it took a long time to reach the full tank mark. but it usually made in about 40 miles.

Question:
is this symptoms of a cold solder joint?? or of something much worse.

Any help would be great

Have you tried tapping on the cluster with your knuckles? (Mine will stick when it gets on the lower end and it is cold out (for here) and that fixes it

If its not the gauge suspect the float has started to leak and could be filling up with fuel, this makes them very sluggish and eventually they sink so the dash reads zero contents all the time - Mike

I would also check the ground connection for the fuel sender. That ground is ground for the intank pump and the fuel level sender. So, if it's bad it'll affect the gauge and the pump.

1. will try the tapping the dash..... but i def. know its not a sticking needle since it moves around, but very slowly.
2. gonna crack open that assembly and see whats up....

Question:
how can i test if the gas gauge isnt broken?
