I need to replace the rubber fuel line that runs from the tank to the steel line under the car. What size/length am I looking for? How do I go about doing it? I need to get it done by Monday, 11am :D

Save yourself a lot of crap & order it from dealership or tasca volvo. It's all metric size hose, & hard to find it metric elsewhere.

You can buy SAE sized hose, but it'll be a tad smaller diameter hose on the large hose and most likely a bit too big/loose on the small one.

All in all, best/easiest to go with the OEM Volvo hoses.here is the link link, look under volvo parts: www.tascaparts.com

I suppose.

My Volvo mechanic friend asked me if it was the 6mm or 10mm line. Which would the rubber line be?

Measure the OD of the stainless tube that the hose slides on. I would guess 10mm rather than 6mm, but that is a guess.

The auto parts store will have a SAE size a tad smaller diameter on big hose, but it'll work in a pinch. IIRCC, it's 1/2 inch hose for big one. Not positive about that though.
Leem search minute.

So what next best SAE size could I use *IN A PINCH*? This is a bit of an emergency.

OEM large hose is 12mm ID. You can substitute SAE 7/16th ID " hose for the 12mm, it's a tad smaller diameter.

buy about 4 feet, anf you'll haveplenty of length, with a short piece leftover.

This is what I did on my 91 244 n/a. I now wish I'd used the OEMhoses. as they were about same $.

For the small hose I iused 5/16th inch ID, but it'ss not a good fit. IIRCC 7mm ID is correct fitment. About 4 foot here too.

This is from my thread concerning same hoses a while back.

I got the piece of hose off. It's a mickeymouse/mcguyver job under there right now. In the spring/summer, I'll redo the lines, but right now, there was about a 16-18" length of 5/16" (ID) line. I'm going to pick that up tomorrow and use it til I can afford a full fuel line job.
