Fuel line sizes needed

Hello, I'm needing to replace a couple fuel lines on my 83 245ti. The one that started seeping fuel was the high pressure feed that goes from the fuel filter outlet to the fuel distributor. Rather than pay $130 plus shipping and wait several months I'd like to try and make it myself. I do not want to replace it with regular fuel injection hose. I'm looking for the hard fuel line that I can crimp the factory ends on to. Anyone know the ID of this?

Lastly I need the ID for the hose between the in tank and main pump. If anyone has lengths for these that would save me some hassle before ordering. Thanks.

from my personal B21FT fixing note stash, replacing the old flexible hose from the filter (just under hood, driver side) to distributor involved the following and some hot water for thermal expansion/contraction.
Replacement ¼” 225 PSI line bought from O'Reilly's, need slightly less than 7 ft. To account for metric possible errors, using old sender flex tube clamps to tighten around barb fittings to make sure no leaks.
But it sounds like you are wanting a different setup from the "crimp factory ends on to" relative to the actual rubber hose and barb fittings that mine had.

There used to be a couple of web sites where you can check out how to work with the nylon fuel hose. You have to figure out a good method to heat the nylon hose so it can be slipped over the barbed fitting. Sorry not sure about the size. I would guess it's 6-7mm id.

The large rubber hose from the tank to the pump is 12mm id fuel hose. You can buy it from Belmetric.com and Tasca Volvo had a good price on the original stuff. Locally you can use 7/16 fuel hose if you can find that. Half inch hose kind of works but is a bit to large.

Tasca wants ~$45/meter for the rubber fuel hose. VP has it for ~$16.50 and it appears to be original Volvo hose. The parts catalog says you need 990mm.

Belmetric sells polyamide fuel hose by the foot. I believe the size you need is 6mm i.d./8mm o.d. but you should measure to be sure.

This one is the correct kit. https://vp-autoparts.com/en/artiklar/fuel-hose-kit-240.html

^ That's for the return line. He's looking for the rubber hose between the tank and the pump and the hard plastic line from the filter to the fuel distributor.

Isn't K-Jet hose 8mmID/10mm OD (not including the sheath)?

The barb ends are pressed into the tube, not crimped. If you hold the tube in a brake line flare tool, with enough length proud of the clamp to allow the barb to seat, you can tap the barb into the tube. Doing it that way, typically no heat is required. If you kink the tube trying to heat & push it on, you will need to cut the tube back & start over, or it WILL be a problem later.

Aftermarket tubing won't have the rubber sheath of the factory line, at least I've not found a source for that. I use nitrile tubing.

Wow thanks so much for all the help and links. I will figure out something. Seems like a real pita to hold that line and keep it from kinking while trying to press a fitting into it.

I found it really easy with the rubber coated nylon tubing from oreilly. Put the barb in some fabric to protect it and hold it in a vise. Get some boiled water, dunk the end of the hose in hold there for a bit, then pull it out and push onto the barbed end. If you only hot soak the little bit you're going to put on the barb then there's not really a kinking problem. And if you have the rubber coated nylon then the rubber adds a good structural backing to prevent kinking problems.
