Fuel Sender Calibration

Just replaced the fuel sender unit in my 1988 Volvo 760 T. Now when i fill up it reads 3/4 is a full tank of gas? The gas gauge travels from 3/4 tank point as if it was the FULL mark on the gauge. What the heck is going on?!. When installing i made sure to line up the marks on the tank with the ones on the unit. Does this mean that i need to "calibrate" the gauge or something?

Did you reconnect the ground wire and is it in good shape and clean connection?

yes i have.... but i'm up to trying a "new" ground point if this could be the problem

It's either a bad ground, bad wire to gauge, or the sending unit float arm is bent out of calibration.
