If it sits at cold:
Check the wiring to the sender. Also the connectors are kinda chinsey and prone to getting oil soaked. The sender it self is only like 12 bucks, so you might just swap that out while your at it.

I wouldn't even drive a car 1 block with a bad temp gage, you need to know when your car is overheating.

If it sits in the middle:
I think IPD has a fix to bypass the circuit that normalizes the temp signal.

ill try that because its dead past cold not even working, but it was working a couple months ago to add.

you can test the gauge, ground the wire at the sensor and it should peg the gauge hot. if the gauge and wiring are ok, pop in another sensor. volvo's used a couple different sensors, not all are swappable, so get the right one

lol, drove for like 2 years with my 244's dead, AND it had a known leak  just crank up the heater every once and a while, if it gets hot then it's got water, if it's not then water's low :D

:omg: My car has had a temp and gas gauge assembly that has worked intermittently (usually doesn't work) for the last 3 years.

mine did this two. fixed it twice.

first time it was one of thr wires came off the two prongs on the temp sensors while i was fiddling near by. the rubber boot concealed the loose connection so double check.

the second time i tapped my gauge cluster n it moved to where it should have been ^_*
