Just got done cleaning up the air idle control, recommended by ipd guys as a way to start bringing the high idle down (one of a few things to check). Everything goes well until now car doesnt start. There was dirt in the electrical plug, both sides got that cleaned up. What coud be the issue??

Check to see if you mistakenly plugged in the wrong connector to the wrong part. Thinking idle switch or similar may have a plug that fits the iac as well.

you think it couldve been plugged flipped? seemed to clip in, i though maybe i had the sensor air flow on the wrong side

felt it was the right plug but it did look really gunky! but cleaned it

dont know how, id have to google lol, car was running great hope its not a big issue, its my daily 😓

the copper pins had a lot of green on them had to use fine sand paper there was so much, could i have put it with the air flow reversed, seemed like it had the bullseye logo pointing my direction before

It should only fit one way for both iac (idle valve) and tps.

If you had other connections off I would start there.
If not others will have better testing procedures but you can try putting 12v to the (unplugged) outside pins of iac and momentarily using middle pin as ground. (12v to one pin will open, other pin will close valve) **only need to give power for a fraction of a second.
I use my drill battery if you have 12v tools

the pin is really hard to come off and put back on, i get a feeling it wasnt pushed all the way in, gotta wait now its raining

can you use a car battery charger to test the pins opening and closing?

For sure you can use the cars battery. (I just like using the tool battery for portability and at the Junkyard it's nice)

My thinking is then at least you can rule out the iac if it works and move onto other testing. With corrosion and that, the issue could be in cars wiring for sure or like you noticed maybe a bad connector. I'm not great with how to test the cars wiring from there so hopefully a more knowledgeable person will weigh in.

But you should be up and running soon and you are making good progress.

its already a lot of good info, im no mechanic just passionate and never take on a job if i dont think i can do it relatively easily, but things will come up for sure once in a while!

its such a bad spot to work from too, never contorted so much in my life 🤣

I'm not sure, but wouldn't the car start regardless if the IAC valve is connected or not? It wouldn't just hold an idle is what I'm thinking, all the connector does is regulate how much the valve is opening up?

Are you sure you've connected the hoses correctly and you didn't unplug anything else?

Also, what does "doesn't start" mean in this case?
Not cranking, not firing, not idling?

alright so went back in, and the arrow was pointing away from the engine, so spun it and reconnecting everything now.
For the starting i meant its not firing, just starter doing its thing, not sure about the terms.
Checked everything i really kept it around the iac. Had to remove the piping with blow off to access there.
