Homer's 1990 240 redblock exorcism

I got the shifter setup sorted out, fits fantastic. Alex and Tom are running the same setup (alex has a much to sporty shift lever though)
1. Shortened E90+Z4 shift lever bracket
2. E60 shift lever
3. E60 (i think) weighted tall knob
4. Shortened 320d shift linkage
5. Bespoken bolt in bushing mount for the tunnel side.

Karl/Alex/Neel came up July 4th weekend to get some shit done on the car:
1. New rear wheel bearings w/ straight axle shafts (slightly bent flange from years ago)
2. Finally replaced the 11 tooth trigger wheel (derp) with a 12 tooth on the diff.
3. Replaced the clutch packs with something a bit more aggressive from Racing Diffs, the tool steel cross shafts looked great in the powr-lok
(Thanks Karl/Alex)
4. 0.6 wilwood clutch MC installed.
5. Rebuilt hydraulic clutch pedal with a thicker arm, copper/iron pivot bushing and thrust washers. New plastic pivot bushings and return spring
too. The original arm was uh, loosey goosey.
6. Alex welded a bunch of random fittings up while we were cursing at the clutch pedal bolt.
7. Karl pulled the dash (bless his heart)

I kept taking the dash apart, heater box is out. I'm replacing the disintegrating sound deadening with new similar stuff (MLV). New blower motor and resistor while I'm in there. Cleaned up wiring I'm not too proud of and a bunch of scars on wires from vampire taps the current owner used over the past 20 years.

Well here's what an an entire whiteblock swap kit looks like. Crating it up this week for the journey to Indiana.

Lastly, the engine is nearly done at the machine shop. Unfortunately the head I sent them was pretty warped, they only found out when they were going to set the valve lash. You couldn't turn the cams by hand :( Easiest solution was to get a head from Erie sent over.

MLV works most excellently. I had the whole floor of my brown 245 lined with it and it really cut down on road noise in the cave of a wagon.

Do you have any pictures of your M90 shifter to tunnel bracket? I am trying to get ideas how to mount mine for my redblock M90 swap into 240.

I can grab some tomorrow. It was a pretty simple modification of the stock M90 bracket. Honestly you would probably be better off using the new brackets I have, the bushing should work. I'll double check before I crate up the M90 stuff. Happy to share the cad files.
I put it in the interior wall between my bathroom and bedroom and it really cut down 2am toilet flush noises. Versatility.
That's been an issue with my 240 too!

I have a shifter cut for m90 in 240 if you want it. If you have stock m90 stuff I’d like to buy it.
