Hello,

I am wondering if this kit: https://www.ipdusa.com/products/6625/Side-Trim-Kit-240-for-Volvo-Aftermarket-106957 is any good? I already own one length of this stuff for my 242, but I fear that it won't last being stuck on with tape. My 242 came without trim, unfortunately, and with a set of trim being hard to find and expensive, I thought this might be a good idea. I was planning to get some of 3M's 94 tape primer to help adhere it to the car.

Also, how common is rust under the windshield on a 240? I was thinking about removing my windshield and cleaning everything up under it before paint. The windshield is probably original (OE Volvo markings on it), so it's pretty beat. Means I need to get a new one put in after, however my current one has no trim around it, so it's an eyesore.

Thanks

Just depends on the environment its been it. I haven't had a rotted windshield frame. I've seen the ipd trim. It looks good and does hold up. But if you car sits under the sun everyday, it will eventually come loose.

The ipd trim sticks pretty well. I had it on the rear quarters of my 242 for a while before I found the correct trim. I never had it come loose at all. It was very difficult to get it straight though, you'll want a level and alot of patience.

I have had this on mine for awhile (since 2016?). imo it doesn't look great after you know/are used to how the side trim should look. But it has held up, though we don't get real heat/sun here.

I'm in OR. Nothing wild as far as sun goes. That, and it's garaged

Okay, good to know. Where did you find the correct trim from? Scrap yard?

Yeah, I've seen several 240s with full trim, and that's what I want, but I'm not sure where to get a set without spending insane amounts of money

What year car do you have? I have a nos rear quarter peice for an early 242. Its the the thin stainless style. I got my trim peices from Redwood chair. RIP
Unfortunately I have an 83. I was honestly toying around with the idea of getting a couple sets from a 244 and tig welding parts together to make a 242 set.
