Just wrapped up putting a d-type m41 in my amazon. Haven't driven the car yet but while I was installing my shortened driveshaft I noticed the transmission can be wiggled around quite a bit by hand, and the overdrive knocks against the crossmember with only a small bounce downward. The mount is brand new from VP, part number 1221967 (says it replaces 663605). Is it possible I put the bracket for the mount on the wrong way or should I get a more sturdy mount? Even without the knocking I'm surprised by how much the transmission can move.

The trans mount bracket is different for OD transmissions. The holes to mount it to the transmission are in a different location which moves the mount down to lift up the trans. The 4 speed mount has a corner cut at an angle where the mount bolts to it to denote the difference. This is an OD mount that doesn't have the angle cut.

Also, the trans mount for OD's is made of harder rubber. The part # is 1221967.

According to VP that's the part number of the mount I got. I also grabbed that little bracket from the junkyard p1800 when I took the m41. I'll confirm that I put it in the right place and in the right orientation when I get home.

Found out the point of contact is two bolts on the overdrive that juuuuuust barely hit the trailing edge of the crossmember. Weird.

Thank you spock and dl242gt, I'll give that mount a try. I'd rather not have to grind the crossmember

Advice like this is PRICELESS! Fortunately, there's a GoFundMe for Hi Performance where we can show our appreciation!
It absolutely is, Eric and Ian are an incredible resource to this community. Here's the link to the GoFundMe in case anyone visiting this didn't see it in off topic. Eric, I'm sorry I didn't have more to give and that I'm on the wrong coast to lend some muscle. I hope you both can find a new place you're happy with soon.
