To make sure I get the weld all around, I did holes in the floor under the plates that fits the Cage to the floor.

Then there's nothing in the way.

Did I mention that I ordered coilovers?
Well, I did. BC for e46. They will probably arrive this week.
And I ordered a 164 front in glassfibre as well.

Wtf!? Nice cage! Mh.. I rly need to get my cage done...! Keep up the good work.. Cannot wait to see how you do the mountingpoints..

I want to see that 164 front-end. Sounds cool!

I've seen a few "165" builds, and I like like the combo wagon-160 front!

Borbet type A's? Yeeee
Yes! Gonna make flat caps for them later! :D

They nearly fit, some small adjustments and they will be good to go!
I'll post pictures in a few days.

Made some progress on the rollcage today!

I hope to have the cage done by the end of the weekend!

what material is the cage ? 25crmo4 ? What brand? Do you crosssection the main hoop? I have the problem that i am too tall to do a proper cross in the main hoop :(

Make more pics please :)

Out of interest how are you cutting the mitres?

Angle grinder, no fancy notches.

It's not chromemoly. I don't know the exact material. It's from a swedish company called Finess.
No cross in the main hoop.

I hope you're satisfied with these pics!

Damn! Its exactly... And by exactly i mean exactly the same way i planned to build my cage :)

Nice!

How do you do the mounting to the chassis? I have weird requirements to conform with due to DMSB rules...

Thx for the pix so far :)

/edit

Is it the GruppH 200V Cage ?

Nice! This is probably the most common way of doing the cross here.

The regulations say double 3mm plates, one 140x90 mm that welds to the body. And one 115x75 that welds on the tube/pipe. You connect them together with 3 m8 bolts going thru both with nuts. If you want you can weld the plates together, but that's optional. I welded them as well.

When looking on the page I can't find mine, I didn't have the tubes for a cross in the roof.

The rollcage is now fully welded.
The rules say you cant add plates or sheetmetal between the pipe and body, but if they're close enough, you can weld them together. So I did that where that was posible.

Fitted the shifter from TXR Performance.

And I got the bearings for the trailing arms.

Impressive work!

Those wheels are HOT! It works with the color combo...the brick fenders on yellow car.

Sup on that shifter? Looks rad!

Thanks man! :)

Yes, Borbet A are real classy!
But they're going to be repainted, the car also. Just haven't made up my mindre on what colour to go for.

It has different setups, from shortshift to stock.
And It has nu Rubber or plastic pieces for a more distinct shift.

I had a weekend together with my girlfriend, so I didn't make so much progress. But I managed to do some small work today.

Made a bracket for the steering to the rollcage.

And started with plates for the engine mounts.

If you need some inspiration, I made these recently. I'll be using the e36 oil pan. I nodged the subframe a bit for extra clearance, although it it not necessesarily needed.
