940 Manual mirror adjusters

The adjusters on my manual side mirrors do not work on both sides.
The mirrors don't move when moving the adjusters, so I have to press the glass into the right position.

It's not an issue really as I almost never need to adjust them, but I'd like to fix it some day just to have some peace of mind.
They can also be picky about it during the annual inspection is the other reason.

I've never had the mirrors open or know how things work on the inside, anyone can point me to what might be broken and how to fix it?
I don't want to break anything by not actually knowing what to do.
They're cable actuated, I guess?

1997 940.

Thanks.

On my 1991 740, the mirrors are held in place via a small circular toothed portion that slides over some pegs in the mirror. I have manual mirrors, but I'm not sure if the manual mirrors kept that design past 91. There is a small hole underneath the housing that you can see the gear teeth on. For the left side, push the teeth outward to lock the mirror in, and inward to allow it to be removed. I hope you were able to figure this out earlier though
