Megasquirting a b21ft Step by Step

Step #4: Removing k-jet harness & wiring:

***Going from memory here... need to check my notes & setup... this will probably be revised a few times***

-Unplug the big connector on the passenger side up by the firewall. Cut the blue wire *PIC* that goes through the terminal block on the firewall. Cut the blue & yellow wire that goes to the drivers side of the starter (make sure it's the blue yellow wire that's connected to this part of the harness!!!!)

-Reroute brown wire that goes to passenger side of starter around the fener. Reroute alt and oil pressure wires around the passenger side fender.

- I'm sure there's more wiring that can be removed. I "kept it simple stupid" b/c I didn't want to cut a wire that I needed.
 
Step #5: Mounting sensors

IAT:
-cut a hole in the cold side IC pipe (or intake if you don't have a turbo). **INSERT SIZE HERE**
-j/b weld temp sensor (make sure it's the correct one) & let dry

CLT: (for those w/ gm temp sensors)
-drain coolant (aleast enough so it doesn't pour out all over your engine)
-remove THIS SENSOR **PIC**
-build your adaptor or (if you found the correct one INSERT SIZE HERE ) thread it in w/ teflon tape.
-thread sensor w/ teflon.

Step one: get MS diagram.

Step two: make a harness by crimping or soldering on ends from a flying lead haress acquired from diyautotune.com Alternatively, you could get a 2.2 harness or something at the yard and start from there.

Step three: Make a thread about your setup in the MS forum. I'd suggest the easy route for now using a LH 2.2 distributor. The hardest part about the swap is pulling the old dizzy (maybe)

Step four: plug k-jet holes

Step five: start car.
 
You can use the original distro if youre going fuel only.

Otherwise only difference between b230 and b21 is installing a coolant temp sensor from a b230 in the b21 head.

Swap intake manifolds. 1/2 fuel injector hose fron rail to filter and return on drivers side.
LH 3.1 throttle body if you want, but not necessary.
 
You can use the original distro if youre going fuel only.

3.1 throttle body will enable you to run a potentiometer TPS(necessary for MS), ala 850, ect, without an adaptor. If using a 2.4/2.2 throttle body, an adaptor to run a potentiometer TPS is needed, ala:

Yes, as Alex said it is simple to run an EFI manifold/rail on a Kjet car, the fittings are there, just the plastic needs to be cut away from the stock fittings and 3/8"? (iirc) hose is to be used. Use good clamps as well.
 
How did you wire the fuel pump relay?

Very Simply:

The stock fuel relay is triggered via Tach signal. If you are ditching the Kjet ignition in favor of some hall-sensor setup, ala 2.2 distributor, all you must do is this:

1.Remove Kjet relay.

2. There are 3 wires that we will re-use from this relay to make up the new FP relay.
The fuel pump wires, the KP2 ignition on power wire, and the batt+ power wire.

You will need a standard 5 post relay for this to work.

3. Take the 3 wires listed above and cut them from the connector that plugged into the factory relay. Put spade terminals on the ends of them.

4. Take the 5 post relay that you picked up and plug up as follows:
ign on (blue I think) into pin 85
Batt+ into pin 30
Fuel pumps into 87/87
The ground wire you must run to the MS box fuel pump pin on your harness, which I do not remember which one it was at this present moment.

It's a very simple setup, and works well, the MS box will trigger the relay that you installed and will run everything as if it were factory. It will also prime the pumps as well, no more priming switch needed and angry k-jet nostarts.

Hrmmm. I thought the dist used on the K-Jet was a Hall Effect type, which can be controlled by the MS unit via direct coil control.

EDIT - Nevermind. I see where my confusion was.

Just finished mine...well tuning had just begun but it fires up. Some details in my thread up in the aftermarket engine management forum.
