Vanilla milkshake.
The queen of all milkshakes.
Ouch..its not that bad is it.. is there anything different on these motors than any other motor ,as far as a head gasket job?
get the head HYDROTESTED when you yank it...cheap insurance against having
to do the job all over again...
*BEFORE* you yank everything, PRESSURE TEST THE COOLING SYSTEM to make
sure it IS coming from the head...
cylinder head on redblock is NOT a big deal to swop out the gasket....work w/care -
clean everything to within an inch of it's life...make sure head is FLAT and install a
NEW THERMOSTAT when you do the job....good time to do HEATER HOSES on
the back of the block (EZ access w/head off)..just sayin....
and:
- clean out the cooling system when the head is back on, don't forget to open the heater as well.
- change the oil + filter asap. Water and anti-freeze are not ideal lubricants...
I once replaced a cracked head on a volvo 340 , the sump was full of this mayonaise!
I got the job done just fine but the engine was never the same, the crispness had gone. I guess the rings and bores did not like that mayonaise...
any one have torque specs on hand?
I HATE Mayo
