• Hello Guest, welcome to the initial stages of our new platform!
You can find some additional information about where we are in the process of migrating the board and setting up our new software here

Thank you for being a part of our community!

New board, new host, new year

FYI - I needed to flush the DNS cache on my desktop windows PC this morning to be able to find turbobricks.com. I'm assuming something moved overnight.
[To flush the cache on a Windows PC: type "cmd" into the lower left search box, then type "ipconfig /flushdns" in the dos command window.]

--------------------
One quirk that I've noticed, really low priority, is:
- login on the Forums tab (with keep me logged in NOT checked)
- click on the Home tab
and the login is lost. Doing a back (<--) restores me to the Forums tab and logged in.
---------------------
Looks like PMs and user photos haven't been migrated yet. What's the plan for local photo storage and/or caching? Is this economical enough now?
Yeah i'm having trouble getting the cookies to use *.turbobricks.com so when the url decides that it wants to use www.turbobricks.com for some reason your login isnt stored for that. It will be fixed next i think.

PM's should all be there. User photo albums were not migrated, theres a "Gallery" add-on that we can purchase if thats something people will use, but the majority of us really didnt use that function in vbulletin. Currently all the images uploaded and avatars and profile photos are stored locally on the server... probably wont need to worry about storage? easy enough to upgrade if it becomes an issue. time will tell.

Thanks. My old PMs are there now, I don't know what I was doing previously when I thought that they were gone.

Looking and working great so far! Thanks for the hard work to transfer everything over.

Is there any way to get the old TB-specific emoticons back? Having those would be a nice touch.

Working my way through the new site.
Tried editing a post to insert an image using the "mountain in a photo" thingy next to the emoji button like the old days
but it doesn't seem to work.
Not bitchin' at all, just letting you know.
Thanks for your work. You're doing great.

works normally for me? are you getting the option to drag and drop? You can also just copy and paste straight into the text box too

I like it. I also miss the join date/location.

Will there be a dark mode? The white is sort of washed out for me (I know you said you're still tweaking things).

Jordan

yeah i'd like a join date or years of membership or something. i'll look for options eventually.
yeah this is the "default" style... i'll eventually make a custom one that will take over this as the default and then a dark one as well.

My icon does not look right in the circle format instead of rectangle.... can this be fixed? (I mean we are all squares and who ever heard of a round Volvo)
@boostdemon can you change the image upload to accept anything up to 20mb and then just resize it on the server side? I can't work out the limit on my own and its a PITA!

yeah i'm already planning on making the avatars square again but might be a setting in the style
I'll look into tweaking the image upload

Just came back from a Xenforo post on that. Apparently under Avatar settings, a "border radius" of 50% gives you round. The lower the radius, the more square they become.

Fantastic work on getting the site onto a new host and new software.
Since the members' photo cache is gone (for now??), I've tried to edit one of my posts which had a lot of images from my old TB-hosted gallery, by putting in Imgur links to where the old pics used to be, and an issue seems to have cropped up.

However..... the new board software counts the old, nonexistent, links to the defunct personal gallery as 'images' and I'm getting a message which says 'please limit posts to 20 images' .... I guess it's counting the dead links (appearing in the post text as 'picture.php') as images?

Is there a way to edit out the 'picture.php' text in the post? This 'picture.php' text disappears once you begin to edit the post.
Ummm.... just in case I'm not explaining this very well, and because pictures speak louder than words, these screenshots may explain -

Below is what's seen when viewing the post......

....... but once I start to edit, that 'picture.php' text disappears.:

See how 'picture.php' has disappeared in the 'edit post' mode?

click the "Toggle BB code" button (the square bracket looking pair thing, it might be inside a triple dot menu) and you should be able to edit the content manually sort of like old TB.

not quite sure i know whats going on but i'll be glad to look at it in a bit. Also nothing was lost - im just not including it. Right now i'm trying to set up a server at the house to run the old turbobricks to be able to go back and get things if theres something critical that cant be replaced

Hmm. Didn't see a drag and drop option.
Tried a straight copy/paste also and that was a no-go.
