240 New MAF needed, best way to go?

While messing around with the accessory bushings on my '92 240, I managed to drop my perfectly functioning LH 2.4 MAF sensor ~4 feet, and upon reassembly, the car ran about how you would expect. I've determined for sure that the problem is my MAF sensor (I can see the broken wire), and now I have to decide which way I should go to find a new one.

Currently, I've narrowed down the options to as follows:

A. Order a cheapo MAF from an online seller in "new" condition ($65):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MASS-AIR-FL...a9ed19&pid=100338&rk=2&rkt=24&sd=261959007692 (not made in China)

B. Take a drive down to my nearest self-serve junkyard and grab one ($45)

C. Get a trusted brand, new/reman. ($$$)

I'm looking for advice on which way to go, getting the most bang for my buck. Specifically:

1) What can go wrong with cheapo MAF?

2) What good/bad experiences have you guys had with getting your MAFs?

3) Is there a good way to test MAFs in a jy?

TLDR: I need a new MAF, how should I get it?

This is a good question, as I too could use any ideas for cheap upgrades to maf sensors on my 89 240dl with LH2.4

I thought I read a post in one thread where a guy used a gm maf sensor, and I know from experience on a mitsu eclipse turbo the gm maf gives better fuel trim and air flow over the Mitsubishi maf. Would be cool to know if we could do the same on our superVee's

FWIW, you can't always count on Bosch.
I had 2 defective MAF sensors for my 854T from a reliable parts supplier.
The supplier was great though and didn't give me a hard time about taking the defective ones back and giving me a new one - still Bosch, but at least this one has lasted a few years.

I've sourced a couple from JY's for different Volvos with good luck.

Bring a VOM and test them there to verify they're within spec, per "The Bentley Bible."

I've got a Bosch Reman MAF in my 92 240. Sticker on the MAF indicates it was remanufactured by Bosch.

PO provided some service records when I bought the car 3 years ago. It's been 7 years and about 90,000km since it was replaced.

No issues, aside from the ones a good cleaning took care of.

I see 6 possibilities for an 016 AMM in Windsor.

I got this post just after getting back from Windsor. I guess I shouldn't complain about the rain. Only one of the cars still had its 016, likely due to the fact that it had only been there for 2 days. Brought it home (clerk rang it up as "miscellaneous", $8.99) cleaned it up and put it in. Works like a charm.

Its also worth noting that the test for an lh 2.4 AMM (2.5 - 4.0 ohms between terminals 2 & 3) should be considered a test to see if the meter is bad, not if it is good. My faulty AMM passed the test (3.8 ohms), despite causing the car to stall almost instantly at idle.

Its nice to have this fixed for under $10.

Yes, that test is bogus. Has been bogus since 1983.
