Yo people.

Some dumbass (me) ran his car low on oil while obsessing over what might be a bad ECU shutting off injector pulses.... and destroyed the turbo's bearings. The scraping of a compressor wheel on a housing is a horrifying sound. And today, the oil seals went too, so now it's totally undriveable.
Although, it made it to 303,--- miles, on what I think is the stock turbo, so there's that... It might have just been time. It wasn't *that low* but it was apparently low enough. ~1.5 qts filled it to the top of the dipstick hashmarks, but it wasn't even on the dipstick when I started.

SOOoooo...

I've got a 90 manifold on a 94 B230FT-L block (Yee yee!). I'm running a Mitsu TD04-13c as far as I can read from the label.

Straightforward questions, assuming the compressor wheel is wrecked:

What wheels are compatible? Are all other 13_ wheels compatible? I would probably go with a 13g.
What do I need to do to the housing? Anything?
Any chance the exhaust side wheel is damaged?

I'll pick out the rebuild kit pretty soon. This one that's "upgraded" from http://gpopshop.com/rebuild-kitsmitsubishi-rebuild-kits/ looks good. The upgraded kit includes "an upgraded 360? thrust bearing and a step gap piston ring"... whatever that means. Anybody know what that means?

I'm not trying to get moar boost right now. I will save that for when I have a real job. Plus I really like how fast the 13c setup spools. I would imagine the 13g gives better flow because of the stepped fins, but I don't really know.

Uhm. I'd say woot, but no boost is sadface.

If there is contact between a wheel and a housing that turbo is done.

Don't bother rebuilding it, just buy another good used 13C and use it as-is instead.

As far as I've been told on here, 13g, 15g, etc. wheels are too big for the 13c housing. I got no facts to back that up though. For the time that you'll spend rebuilding that one and the money you'll spend on a new CHRA, I would just drop in a cheap used 15g. You won't really notice a difference in the spoolup time.

15g's are TD04 turbos. They almost just bolt right up (after reclocking and fiddling with a wastegate actuator mount)

Fiddling with or fabricating? Good to know.
I think I'm going to go with the one my car had. A 15g sounds like fun, but I'm too busy to mess with it that much. I just need it driveable again.
