So here's what my parents were up to this past weekend...
My dad won this car on ebay and they flew down to texas to pick it up. It is a one-owner 1982 Volvo 242dl. The little old lady's son drove it on and off after she was unable to drive, then his son drove it for a little while. The odo stopped at 43k but the lady's son said it wasn't driven much and the mileage is estimated to be 66k original miles! Rust free N/A, kjet, runs as smooth as a sewing machine, auto tranny w/OD, 31% tint, poop brown interior, fuel pump(s) need replaced though (the external pump makes weird staticy inconsistent noises). So yeah, I'll let the pics do the talking now:

And the rest of the fleet: 1982 244tic, 1992 245...and my Amazon hiding behind the 244 hehe

No virgo's, it's on steelies with beauty rings and hub caps. My 244tic is on virgo's lol. Thanks for the kind words though! It's actually prettyyyy zippy for an n/a kjet car. Tranny shifts smooth like butter too!

that thing is hotter than hotness, sweeter than sweetness and coupier than coupes...

I am developing a love affection for white 240's....242 is the beez kneez!

Nice score!
I remeber seeing it on ebay!
One day I'm going to have to take a similar trip because here in canada all the 240's are just big hunks of rust!

Just like my old one, multi-x wheels look really good on those cars. Looks like you even got the fun white top cap I so dearly hate.

is that a ghetto rigged cruise control?

haha yeah i think so...there's a little gray box above the ignition inside the car that has the cruise control controls on it...not as stock as the stalk on my 244tic's cruise control

Very nice find!, Enjoy the car.

Thanks! I immediately started making plans for it as far as doing a squirter swap, slamming it, blah blah blah but i think my parents want to keep it as the reliable daily:grrr:

so they rove it from tx to nc with no plates?

haha yeah Derrick. they got a temp tag in tx and put it in the back window to prevent it getting ripped off and it flew out the window somewhere between San Antonio and Louisiana. They only got stopped by a cop once and it was in Georgia because of the tags but apparently he was the nicest cop on earth and they had quite a conversation. He also commented that the tint was too dark for Georgia and put some gauge on the glass and determined it to be 31%. it doesn't look that dark at all until the sun hits it

Those seats. Are. Incredible  Those are the exact seats I want for my 242.

Nice find!

Thanks Cam! haha if you really want the seats i'm sure we could arrange something:-P

Thanks man! it really is a fun car and it's taking some getting used to with the HUGE DOORS

Thanks! yeah i was wondering if any other TBrickers were bidding on it lol

God yeah i hate the white headliner. I want to swap to a black interior but that headliner just ruins everything. The headliner in our wagon is white and also really hard to keep clean with its utility vehicle status

forgot to mention the A/C worked until the compressor siezed 50 miles down the road after the purchase. bye bye power steering but you really don't notice a difference with that huge steering wheel haha.

just pay shipping haha. or i'll trade you for a black interior?

:omg: Sadly I don't have a black 242 interior to trade... but, if you're serious about offing those seats (I don't need the door panels really) and as long as shipping is not over like $300-$400 I would take them. For realz.

I'll look into it;-)

and a nice surprise this morning: after severe thunderstorms all night last night, I hop in to take my mom somewhere and the seat bottom is wet. so now I have a rather wet ass and a work meet at my place in an hour. awesome. we think it's the sunroof gasket but it didn't leak at all when my parents drove through torrential downpours in Louisiana on the way back.
