I'm redoing brakes on a race car. I'm told the car has 'early 240' (1973? 1974?) brakes. I purchased new Girling rear calipers but what I received does not match what is on the car. The car's calipers have 7/16" mounting holes and a brake hose port with a raised center nipple. The new calipers have 10mm mounting bolts and a brake hose port with a smooth angled bottom profile. (see photos) The rear brake lines have two different brake line fittings on them. One end has a 3/8" fitting and the other end of the same line has a 10 mm fitting that joins an aftermarket T fitting on the rear axle. I am making up new brake lines and can use any fitting and create any flair that works. My questions are; 1. What is the correct diameter of brake line to use? 3/16", 1/4" or mm? 2. What is the correct flair type to use on the new calipers? Double 45 degree? Bubble? 3. Is there any reason why I shouldn't just drill out the caliper mounting holes from 10mm to 7/16" so that I can use the existing caliper mounting bracket? Please educate me on what brake lines, brake fittings and flairs were used on which year 240's. Which type of flair should I be using with each type brake line fitting? Thanks!
