Hello all,
Rookie observation...
After having a shop rebuild only the OD of my 244's M46, the transmission shifts (1st-4th) as though the clutch is substantially grippier. For me this was an unexpected benefit, because the OD wouldn't work (for more than a few minutes first thing in the morning, during which time it worked great) due to poor fluid pressure and my high-miles stock clutch was soft but seemed w/i 'normal range'.
Having now seen the guts of the OD, I assume the change was because they replaced the drive plate/clutch cone. Friction material on the old drive plate/clutch cone was rather grooved and ragged.
