960 Replacing Evap Blower Motor

I think my evaporator blower motor has gone bad, but before I go through all the trouble of ripping the old one out, I just want to make sure. Mine is the 1992 system, full ECC.

A year ago I started hearing it make that bad ball bearing sound that fans do, but just a couple days ago I noticed that when I first start up the car, the fan isn't running. It will start after I go over a big bump, or slap the air return vent under the passenger kick panel. This is telling me that the motor is getting hung up, and the bump/slap is giving it the gumption to start moving. Does this sound right?

As for replacing it - my car doesn't have the passenger knee bolster, so I don't have to worry about getting that out of the way. My question is, can I do with by just removing the glove box? Any other tips? I have a blower motor from a 97 S90 that I'm going to put in there and see if that works before I spend the money on a new one.

Thanks guys!

The blower motor is a 30 minute job. But the 960 DO have a specific fan, and 7/9's don't work.

And I've done 2 7/9 heater cores ((MCC), and it was just tedious, not too bad. Online instructions from the BB FAQ's were great

Right on!

I assume a 97 S90 fan will work in my 92 960?

Thanks!
