760 Seat belts wont unlock

So I pulled apart my interior yesterday and today to search for rust, and be rid of the sound deadening material, and in doing so the seatbelt reel/spool/ratchet things locked up and wont release the belt so I can put the seats back in. Is there a trick to make them unlock without taking the ratchet mechanism apart? I have to have a seatbelt at least for the drivers side by tomorrow so I can drive to work.

Exactly. It has to be in position to release properly.

I figured it out. It has to be held perfectly in the position it'd be on the seat to get it to unlock. I was holding it 10* off

I had the same exact problem as you. It's funny how you something so little can be a big deal. I actually had my check engine light on because my gas cap was a bit loose.

what method are you using to remove the laminates? Wear a face mask/respirator if you're heating it. That stuff has asbestos in it no doubt.
