Sunroof clean-up and adjustment

Mr. V,

Do you mean:

- Horizontally
- Vertically

?

Thanks, read that thread, only thing about seals was someone saying they had something protruding (but not what). I do not have anything protruding, everything looks quite neat.

Drove to work in it yesterday in torrential rain. No issues or noises even going on the motorway.

I meant it would only go so far forward; most but not all of the way.

One thing the "pro" did was to remove the little "ramps" which attach to the sides of the sunroof, toward the front.

Hi,

Do you mean ramps attached to the sunroof, not the wind-deflector ramps? Nothing is attached to mine, in fact, I noticed the paint being scraped off on the sunroof contact point with the wind-deflector arms.

I think I will poke my inspection camera in there to see what's going on and maybe play with the height adjusters.

Thanks

Not the wind deflector; rather it's the thin metal pieces attached toward the front of the sunroof on each side.

Part of the problem was that with them in place the sunroof would "jam" on its forward progress when it hit the newly installed seal which "bowed out" where the "ramp" attached to the non-moving roof.

Found the problem. And it actually relates to my post from over two years ago. No smoke without fire!

The screw that locks the lift arm length in place had come lose and today, after all the playing around, finally fell off:

Fitted it at max length and it closes and seals fine now. And, the spring I asked about two years ago now fits. It just shows you should never dismiss little things, they are usually not right for a reason.
