Installed a t5 on my 242 just wondering what ppl are doing for a speedometer? It's not a lh2.4 car so no speed signal from rear end

If you have a cable to be cut down, hit up Commercial Speedo in west sac. $20 and 10 minutes later I had a cable in my hand.

As for getting the ratio even remotely close...I'm not there yet. Need a ratio adapter as it's around 20mph at 70 and the correct ratio can't be achieved with my diff and speedo setup by using Ford drive and driven gears.

I'm running a Yoshifab cable...and he outfitted it with a Ford VSS for LH 2.4. I've done the calculations and the red 21 tooth speedo gear with the yellow output shaft (7 tooth) should get me in the ball park for my 242.

Depends on diff and speedo I guess. I'm running a 4.1 diff and an R-sport cluster which means I would need either a 24t driven gear on the 7t drive gear or a 6t drive and 21t driven, which I don't think is a viable combination.

Question - I thought the ford VSS went in place of the speedo drive on the T5? So how do you have a VSS and a Speedo cable?

Anyone had luck using ford VSS with volvo electronic speedo?

I currently just have mine blocked off, planning to use LH 2.4 diff speed sensor in future...

That pic you posted Chewy has both the VSS and speedo drive. There's a plug in the hole for the speedo cable that you can remove and use a standard cable in that spot. Rocking one on mine right now.

ahhhh, I knew I was retarded.

Can the VSS be used to drive an electronic volvo speedo and give the LH2.4 the right signal?

No - the VSS sends an unclipped AC signal (8000 pulses per mile). LH 2.4 needs a digital pulse. I'm running a converter from Dakota Digital (SGI -5C). I've mounted it on the side of the centre console - fits and works perfectly. Fuel cut and idle works as it should.
