Turbo T5 04 v70?

My wife's 04 v70 T5, recently started making a slight whining noise on acceleration. but gets quiet after it warms up. But still there a little. Somebody told me it was the turbo, car runs fine. Plenty of power and no smoke. It has 150000 miles on it. I was wondering if it time for a new turbo or if it's ok to continue to drive. Also somebody ask me if the turbo was bearing or oil journal, I didn't know and I don't know what that had to do with anything at this point. Also I removed oil cap but noise was still there, had pcv system done about 10000 miles ago. If I do need turbo, buy reman or salvage yard. I'm wicked confused on what it is or what the best route to go. Any help would deeply be appreciated.
