ok all my fellow brickers.. ive moved up in the world. Up one cylinder and up on power.. slid into a front drive turbo 850 that is so loaded it shouldn't be legal. ANYWAY i have two questions for all you smart people. First off is i've noticed after installing an aftermarket boost gauge that i can see 10+ sometimes 15psi of boost. Now i don't know if it's been modified or not. I did look and noticed that the vacuum line to the waste gate controller thingy lol ( sorry i can't spell that right now) looked a little weather beaten. I was able to move the con rod from that to the hot side of the turbo.. so i know it moves. But what should i look for in regards to the extra boost? side note.. that damn thing goes like a fat man headed to a free all you can eat buffet!! lmao sorry to all the big guys .. was only a joke. And the second issue is a clunking noise. Sounds like its coming from the suspension someplace. i'm not sure if its a bushing or what. any ideas on what to look for? or where to begin? Seems to be on the left front corner. Yes its rocking the stock 16's and correct size tires. Any responses would be appreciated either here or my email as im not able to check this site all that often due to work schedule. my email is gizmo98550@yahoo.com OR!!! this possibility maybe one afternoon one of the local boys could have a peek at it for me if they know what they are really doing. As i said.. ive gone to a turbo 5 front drive setup. my last rig was a 88 740 turbo.. im sure y'all know about them. I dont know a damn thing about this one lol

The struts/mountings tend to go on those and become your culprit. If your strut tops looks like this:

...with that big separation between the pieces, you're going to need to replace stuff. Unless you know that the struts have been done, it's worth doing them as well, and not just the mounts.

There are other possible culprits, but I didn't encounter them on mine. I'm sure somebody else can tell you what those are when they get here. 850's love to eat suspension bits, so it's not a bad idea to just take a look around and do a full refresh, even if you can't do it all at once.

Jack the front end up and grab hold of the tire at 3 and 9 o'clock. Wiggle back and forth to feep for clunks.
Then grab at noon and 6 and repeat. Any clunks are bad.
Youre checking for bad balljoints, wheel bearings, tie rods or steering rack.

Also, inspect the boots on the half shafts.

Ok I looked at the strut part that XxjenoxX posted. And to be honest they looked good. If someone wants I can take photos of areas to look at and email them. But that bit looked good. My cv axels are good. They don't make that light clicking sound. That sound I'm familiar with.

A test for the spring seat is put a big wrench on the top strut nut and turn it a little, like 20?-30? at most. If it springs back it's good, if it turns and stays turned your spring seats are broken.
