Guys I'm sure this question has been beaten to death, (but) I need to replace the heater core that was just replaced 3 years ago and I have to do it real soon - like early next week kinda soon.

There's NAPA, AZ, O'Riellys, and I'm sure a couple others around here. I'm still in Tennessee and don't have a handle on the who what and where's. I could find a volvo dealership too if that's your recommendation for my best value option.

Which heater core is generally recommended amongst you guys over the other cores?

Thanks for your help, I'll try to order one tomorrow depending on which direction you guys point me in.

I replaced the heater core in my 940 this fall with an all metal unit from napa. It was around $100 I think. The quality seemed okay for the price, but the fit was just slightly off. It took quite a bit of fiddling to get it to fit properly.

If your current heater core is leaking a fair amount, don't forget to clean the inside of all the plastic duct work throughly or it will take quite some time for the "leaky core" smell to go away when using the heat.

NLA from Volvo according to the parts guy at Volvo of Chattanooga. OEM number is 1307236.

Volvopartswebstore.com ( http://www.volvopartswebstore.com/cart.aspx ) shows the unit but doesn't answer the phone yet. Will try them again in an hour or so and again after that, hopefully they're open on Saturday and can overnight one to me. Option is bypass it or go with the nissens plastic unit.

I have an all-metal one in there now and the upper tube is loose and weeping. I've got a thousand mile drive back up to CT from here next week and man I don't want that thing to pop on me on the way.

That said, I can't bypass it either as I'll no doubt be driving through some nasty seasonal weather and will need to keep the windshield hot...

Damn why does this stuff only seem to happen on road trips? Lol

The store shouldn't matter because they are all re-selling the same parts, for the most part. Look for an all-metal one, the last Nissens metal/plastic one I tried to install wasn't shaped right and didn't fit until I hacked the crap out of the firewall and heater case.

If there's a Carquest or Advance, see if they have access to the WorldPac catalog, they have better parts.
