Which way is the clutch disc installed?

I am putting a clutch in, and i am uncertain as to which way its installed.

the center sprung part of the clutch sticks out further on one side than the other side.

the clutch only goes in one way i am told, so this is of importance.

The flat side of the disc goes toward the flywheel. It will only fit that way. Be sure to also replace the pilot bearing and when you tighten the pressure plate. Don't over tighten it. It's best to use a torque wrench and tighten to about 18-20lbft no more. Use a star pattern like when you tighten the lug nuts on the wheels on the pressure plate.

Will white lithium grease work well? i used that on the splines....

thanks for the help turns out i installed the disc correctly.

i need to modify my pressure plate slightly, one of the alignment holes is not cooperating with the alignment dowel. I need to make the hole bigger methinks

As long as it's a high temp grease it doesn't matter about the color. Just take a file or roll up some emery paper and clean up the hole a little bit. Be sure none of the grit gets on the pressure plate.

Make sure you use enough of the right type of grease.

I used the wrong kind, it failed and started making a scraping noise when using the clutch: I had to pull the transmission to reapply the correct grease.

Lesson learned.
