does anyone have a reccomendation for a machine shop in the north jersey area. i want to get my block decked and cylinders honed.
 
I am sure there is a good shop up North. I think Linuxman51 used to know a guy up North. If you are willing to go to South Jersey. I use D&F Performance in Berlin. They do excellent work.
 
I have worked with Charlie Olsen, owner of Olsen engines in Nyack, NY for over 20 years. He does all of the factory work for Ferrari challenge and has done all of our BMW 12v and 24v heads and bottom end work. Id recommend him for literally any kind of motor work, from BIGM BLOK CHEBBYS to high end euro stuff. No website, just call.

For Volvo Id recommend Olsen as well, Charlie was friendly and very helpful any time I e spoken to him and can build any motor.

I've just got a motor back from LRB Performance in Hamburg or Franklin, big ole iron block 364ci, the machine work is excellent but the turn around was slow, they did mention an aversion to Volvo motors when I mentioned the LS was going in a 240 wagon which surprised me. They build world championship drag motors though, very old school place, awesome shop and crew.

CAMS, Chucks Automotive Machine Shop on Brass castle Rd in Harmony is also a solid choice, I've used for many flywheels and stuff, super fast and great guy, also does decking, honing, cylinder head rebuilding etc for over 30 years 908 387 1379
